Heading north on the Capt Cook Highway out of Cairns you first encounter Daintree at Rocky Point, the start of Wonga Beach. It is the first time that you see a beach since Yule Point which is well to the south of Port Douglas. The highway conveniently does not disturb Wonga as it runs well back from the beach. Marlin Drive, Wonga Beach Road and Vixie's Road are all on the right of the highway and go straight down to the beach.
Wonga Beach has facilities that the rest of Daintree does not have or are just hard to find. Mobile phone reception, fuel, shops, electricity, TV reception, Fuel, gas, playgrounds, swimming pools, bottle shop, video hire, camping grounds, beach, laundrette, take out/away food, sealed roads, boat ramp, clean drinking water, sea breezes, public phones, public toilets. And all of it is on the beach.
We also have things at Daintree - Wonga Beach that are hard to find in Australia and other parts of the world.
Reasonable water restrictions and clean fresh air.
In fact our tap water is so pure that council, starting soon, is going to
bottle the tap- water and sell it in shops.
